FAQ

  • When will I get my coffee?
    • Coffee is roasted twice a month at a Co-roasting facility in Berkeley, CA called CoRo.
    • If there is stock on hand, it will typically be shipped via USPS the following business day.
    • If there have been arrangements made, coffee can be hand delivered in San Jose, CA.  Please contact us for these arrangements prior to purchase.
  • What's with the pickup location(s)?
    • This is a small business and I'm a rock climber! If you're in the gym at certain times and want to pickup directly from me, choose 'pickup' and I'll make arrangements to have your coffee with me during those times.
  • Are these coffees 'Fair Trade'?
    • At a minimum, yes.
    • Coffee sourced from Sweet Marias/CoffeeShrub which has higher standards that they refer to as their own 'Farm Gate' by direct trade with the collectives and farmers.  Additional  information is located here.
    • Coffee we purchase from Genuine Origin will have Fair Trade practices.
  • Are these coffees 'Organic'?
    • yes and no.
    • The majority of coffee producing countries are 'developing nations', where the costs to certify organic is not feasible, though farms that certify via third parties as 'Fair Trade' use sustainable practices, but again, the costs to certify as organic is not feasible.
    • With trends moving towards more and more producers and farmers, there will be more coffees available as organic.
    • As a micro roaster it is not currently feasible to register our roasts as Organic though the beans maybe organic certified.  It is our priority to always buy coffees with sustainable practices which maybe a form of 'Fair Trade' and if offered 'organic' but unfortunately we will not be able to carry the organic symbol since the cost/procedures for a micro roaster is prohibited.
